Jello binds everything together for a delicious Thanksgiving side dish. And this is a recipe that does not require cooking as so many Thanksgiving recipes do.

Tart, sweet and crunchy, Cranberry Mold uses raw cranberries with apples and nuts. Jello binds everything together for a delicious Thanksgiving side dish. When our babies were small, I participated in a local Mother of Twins group and met moms extra busy raising families that included multiple births. We shared stories, swapped clothing, encouraged one another and became friends.

Even though our children are now in their 30’s with children of their own, I have remained friends with one of the moms. We still get together occasionally to laugh and talk about our kids and our grandchildren!

Anne shared the recipe and I have been making it ever since. It is quick and easy to make.

Jello Cranberry Apple Mold Recipe

PRINT RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 bag cranberries (12-oz), finely chopped (I use a food processor)
  • 1 small cherry Jell-O
  • 2 Red Delicious apples, finely chopped (about 1/4-inch)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 1/4 cup sugarDIRECTIONS:

Make the Jell-O using 1/2 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cold water. Put it in the refrigerator to thicken slightly, about 25-30 minutes.

While the Jello mixture is thickening, chop the cranberries, apples and nuts. I use a food processor for the cranberries and nuts and a knife for the apples.

Remove jello mixture from fridge and fold in remaining ingredients until well blended; spoon into serving bowl or mold.

    Refrigerate until firm.

Quick question – what am I supposed to eat this with? Can I eat it like jam on bread? Or is it just a dessert? I've never heard of a mold before.

My daughter Sam and I love cranberries, so every Christmas we stock up on this lovely fruit, and gobble it up—fresh, in baked goods and even smoothies.

Your stand up and take notice Cranberry Mold will be going into my berry repertoire!

    Happy New Year!

Sounds like it will taste very fresh.

that looks so good. I'm the only one in my family that likes cranberries though so it always seems like such a waste to make anything just for me since it's unlikely that I could eat it all myself.

    That's so pretty!
I made a molded salad last week, for the first time in years. It was very well-received.

    Dearest Lorraine,

Looks yummy but how big a bag of cranberries you used? How many ounces… That would be helpful. Never knew that the cranberries can be used fresh, uncooked that is!
Love to you and have a great week.
