The snow day on Saturday was perfect for filling the house with the scent of baking cookies and treats like those in a sweet shoppe. Outside was a picture of white drifts of falling snow and inside was filled with Christmas music and lots of sugar, butter and baking sheets.

We made old favorites and a couple of new recipes. Lemon Tartlets (Jared’s request), Tassies, Chocolate covered Oreo Cookies, a Yummy Caramel Corn recipe I saw on several blogs, and a filled cookie that was one my mom and aunt made every year.
Family tradition Filled Turnover Cookies
Abbey enjoyed this baking day with mom 🙂
After the dough is made and chilled, roll out on a lightly floured surface and cut into 3-inch circles.
Spoon the jam filling on half of each circle and fold dough over. Press edges together and crimp with a fork.
Place the cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet, one inch apart. Brush the tops lightly with milk or cream and decorate with colored sugar.
Bake the cookies 8 to 10 minutes or until very light brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to a cooling rack.
