Front Porch Living

By Lorraine

Sprucing up and decorating with accessories, flowers and garden plants getting ready for leisurely spring and summertime front porch living. At last, the air has warmed and the birds have returned and again the front porch has become a very enjoyable place to rest. A welcoming place to sit a spell. Front porch living includes pretty daisies in a sprinkling can sitting atop a little round wicker table.

The white pansies planted in the window boxes in the fall will need to be replaced with white impatiens as the temperatures begin to climb. Notice the blooming rhododendron peeking from behind the swing.    We chopped off the branches preparing to rip it out last fall.  Now, I am happy we didn’t get to finish the job. There is abundant new, healthy growth!

Peeking through the spiderwort plants, a plant the came by unexpectedly and just appeared one day. It pops up in random places needing to be pulled where not wanted but the little purple flowers are so sweet.

With a large family and many grandchildren, we try to provide lots of porch seating. Have you noticed that a porch tends to have a draw for both quiet sitting and also small group chatting?

No annuals available yet to fill the hanging planter (a birthday gift from a friend), the urns and the beds. I really wish I could fine pretty annuals in yellow other than marigolds. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the beautiful visit, I like hibiscus too, Hawaii has the only one 'found' in the world with a scent. Perhaps I can swap pictures of my Koki`okea for your scripture recipe for our Youth Group. Raliegh (Lahaina)

You have a lovely place to relax. I’ve always loved porches best. We have a deck, but I long for a white porch, maybe someday.

Beautiful porch! I love it, and the colors are so unique. I love different combinations like that. And how cool to turn an old setee into a porch swing!

I see pictures of Raider on your side bar. We have a mini schnauzer too. He is SUCH a wonderful dog! We got him from the pound believe it or not. They had rescued him from a puppy mill! His name is Fritz. He loves the whole family and is great with my small children!
