A Wintery, Icy Mix

By Lorraine

This morning

Winter

a Mother Goose poem
Cold and raw the north wind doth blow,
Bleak in the morning early;
All the hills are covered with snow,
And winter’s now come fairly.

a few winter photos
my grandson:

 my (dead) car battery:

 my guy:

 my dog:

Despite the sometimes dreary days,  I still like winter.  I look forward to the rebirth of spring and the emerging flowers and greenery, but I would never give up winter’s peace and subdued colors.
To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven
Ecclesiastes3:1

I love winter too and this post is just wonderful. The comments are so reat ~ full of so many good thoughts and inspiration. I really like the first one from Bren ~ winter is God's way of saying slow down and focus on Him.

Oh my, I could so relate! We had the ice two weeks ago and more may be coming. I enjoyed time for grandparents and grandchildren this morning, with my own grandsons (a bit younger than yours) AND a dear friend called with a dead battery as well! A very enjoyable visit. 🙂

Same icy mix here. Some very bad accidents this morning due to the ice.
I just thank God I didn't have to go out in it! 33 yrs of having to be there on time makes me appreciate not having to, and pray for those who do! 🙂

As much as I dislike the cold I must admit that winter is a beautiful season. I just wish that I could admire it from inside my house instead of going out in it every morning 🙂

GA often has ice storms and my biggest fear is losing electricity. Hope you are staying warm and safe. Winter is pretty and the other day when we had our rare snow, it seemed so quiet outdoors. Best wishes with the car and tell Raider to stay warm!

We have had such a long winter already with early snow in November and December. Today we had terrible black ice and there were 40 accidents in our small region. I will be very glad when spring arrives.

When the sun shines on ice-covered branches, it looks like diamonds. So beautiful!

Whups…sorry about your car battery. I agree about winter…how wondrous to see the snow sift silently down from the heavens. So peaceful, I love those parts of winter too. But sometimes NOT the bone-chilling cold. Wait….I have a 'down' coat..and it is 5 star. grin. Now that and my electric blanket….make up for the cold. pretty much…

We're enjoying that wintry mix right now. Tucked in and hunkered down by the woodstove with lots of reading and hot cocoa! I also , love the stillness and quietness of winter. Although a bit less snow might be okay..LOL!

You're right about the peacefulness. We should enjoy it while we can..I'm trying.

I think Winter is God's way of saying slow down and concentrate on HIS goodness.
