As years pass, items from our childhood become more endearing and treasured. At the time of my birth, my aunt was living with my family. This tiny baby ring was a gift from her.
Baby Ring
My aunt was a young working girl who hadn’t yet married and started a family. So much of her free time and extra funds were lavished on me.
This tiny ring with an equally tiny pearl was a gift from her. Aged and tarnished with time, I still enjoy wearing it from time to time on a chain around my neck.
Pearls have always been my favorite!
My husband bought me a strand as a wedding gift that I wore on my wedding day.
Our twin daughters were wed in a double wedding and Jill wore my pearls that special day.

From Wikipedia:
A pearl is a hard, generally spherical object produced within the soft tissue (specifically the mantle) of a living shelled mollusk. Just like the shell of a mollusk, a pearl is made up of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers. The ideal pearl is perfectly round and smooth, but many other shapes of pearls (baroque pearls) occur. The finest quality natural pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries, and because of this, the word pearl has become a metaphor for something very rare, fine, admirable, and valuable

Pearls are one of my favorite gems as well. I have a pearl choker that my husband bought me for a special anniversary present and I love to wear it often and hope to pass it down to a daughter in law or a granddaughter someday.
Thanks for sharing the picture and story of your ring.

I think pearls are so beautiful! Your little ring is so sweet and, as usual, you've made it look even more so with the pictures you've taken. I love the pearl on the berry branch.
