It won’t be long and the beautiful herbs growing in my garden will succumb to the end of the season. Before a frost comes I gathered a bowlful so I could preserve them for flavoring meals long after I will be able to walk out the side door and snip them fresh. Sharing suggestions for
In the past I dried herbs by hanging them in bunches.
This year, I thought I would try freezing them to see if they maintained more flavor.

I freeze dried my herbs too, and they work very well, plus retain their true green color..

I dried mine in the oven…but oh those little stick like stems on some. I crush mine together and use the blend for fish & chicken. Its rewarding to use them…in spite of too many 'sticks'.

I've thought of trying to grow my own herbs but I don't have much of a green thumb.

I've never thought of freezing herbs, but it sounds like a great way to keep the flavor fresh for longer. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks for this post. I will try to freeze some of my herbs. I agree nothing like fresh basil in the middle of winter!

I will be interested to see how the freezing does, I have never tried. I will have to try rooting a few sprigs of basil, I also love fresh basil. Have tried making pesto and freezing it in ice cube trays then popping out and keeping in a freezer bag, works well. It will be nice having all those herbs this winter

I've never tried to freeze herbs, I'm anxious to see how successful it is. Luckily, other that the basil and mint, most over winter pretty well in Southern california. Your photos are gorgeous!
