Creamy French Dressing
Yield: 2-1/2 cup (20 servings)
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 small onion, cut into wedges
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- Salad greens, tomato wedges and cucumber slices or vegetables of your choice
DIRECTIONS
In a blender (I use my small Oscar food processor and it is barely big enough), place the mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, onion, salt and pepper; cover and process until smooth. While processing, gradually add oil in a steady stream.
Serve over salad. Refrigerate leftover dressing.

This sounds good. I don't know why I've never tried to make my own dressing.

I used to make something similar when we lived up north except I used something I think was called Chili sauce rather than catsup. With mayo and not much else. We called it Russian dressing which is similar to Thousand Island Dressing which your French dressing resembles in its "creamy" state. 🙂
