Hand pie serving suggestions
If you want to go the extra mile, simply brush with an egg wash and sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds. Serve with carrot and celery sticks, a cup of soup, apple slices, salad or potato chips.
How to make ham & cheese crescent hand pies
Use deli ham or leftover baked ham and your favorite cheese. We like either Swiss, cheddar or American cheese.
Open the can of crescent rolls dough and unroll.
Separate the crescent dough into 4 rectangles. Firmly pinch the diagonal perforations to seal.
Place one-fourth of the ham and about 1-ounce of cheese on one half of each dough rectangle.
Add the mustard, if using. As much as you like.
Fold the other half of dough rectangles over the filling. With fork, seal edges.
Gently transfer the hand pies to an ungreased cookie sheet. In small bowl, beat egg with water until frothy. Brush the tops of hand pies with thin layer of egg wash.
Sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds, if using.
Bake in preheated 350 F. oven until medium golden brown, about 13-15 minutes.
Cool slightly before serving, 3 to 5 minutes.
