Sweet and Sour Sauce

By Lorraine

Kick up roasted pork and poultry with easy, 4-ingredient sweet and sour sauce. Serve this tasty condiment on the side to spoon over meat for lots of flavor.
There is something crazy good about the tantalizing combination of sweet and sour. It totally enhances meat, poultry and pork as well as vegetables. A little goes a long way as not to be overwhelming. Sweet and Sour Sauce is a super easy, very tasty, pungent sauce using just 4 ingredients.

My mom didn’t enjoy cooking or baking and preferred to be in the garden or at her sewing machine. Somewhere along the way she came up with this sweet and sour sauce probably because of its simplicity. Well, we all loved it and we have been making it ever since.

It isn’t the type of sauce you would stir your meat into but rather one that is best drizzled on as a condiment.

Since this recipe doesn’t use cornstarch as a thickener, it take about thirty minutes to reduce to desired consistency. Begin making the sauce when you put your meat into the oven and let it simmer slowly until it reaches the thickness you like.

I have never seen "sweet and sour" sauce look better! In fact, it is pictured so beautifully that it makes me wish for it, in this early morning hour.

Loraine, you could easily get a job with a top food magazine. Your food photography is exceptional!

Oh, one of my favorite things!

When J and I were newlyweds, we were a permanent fixture at a local Chinese restaurant.
For years, we would only order sweet and sour shrimp. The restaurant is no longer, therefore, I am not walking away without your wonderful recipe.

Sounds so easy! will definitely be trying this very soon. I always put a slice of orange on my pork chops while grilling/frying, makes them sweet and sticky, this sauce will go just perfect with them. Anything that involves ketchup is a winner with my boys!
