through a glass, darkly

This World is Not My Home
(lyrics and video of Jim Reeves singing this sweet hymn)

This world is not my home, I’m just passing through.
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
If Heaven’s not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
They’re all expecting me and that’s one thing I know.
My Savior pardoned me and now I onward go.
I know He’ll take me through, though I am weak and poor.
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
If Heaven’s not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
I have a loving Savior up in glory-land,
I don’t expect to stop until I with Him stand,
He’s waiting now for me in heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
If Heaven’s not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
Just up in Glory Land we’ll live eternally.
The Saints on every hand are shouting victory.
Their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven’s shore
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
If Heaven’s not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door
And I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.

Many Sunday afternoons, I would hear my dad play this song and I can still hear him singing along with it. Can you imagine what a gift you provided for me this evening! The words touched my heart and lifted my spirits. The watercolor picture provided me with a huge dose of beauty. Thank you my friend!

We had Jim Reeves playing on the hi-fi (smile) when I was a little girl…his voice sounded like butter…soft and warm. A beautiful post, Lorraine 🙂

So glad that one day, we will not know just in part, but will see clearly all that God has been doing. Love the water colored photo of the bottles. The verse and song are two of my favorites.
