These light shades sat in the garage all winter waiting for springtime. Early in the season, I visited the garden center to see what I could find. Cheerful pansies caught my eye.
Simple Re-Purposing
Pot saucers from discarded jar lids
But the saucers look cute. They add a bit more color and detail and they catch water from leaking where it might cause damage.
- Use discarded lids from jars large enough for the globe to sit in and allow space for the drain off.
- Rough up the surface of the lid with a piece of sand paper. This will allow the paint to adhere properly.
- Paint with acrylic paint giving the lids several coats for complete coverage.
- When the paint is dry, apply a coat of gloss clear acrylic sealer.

What a great idea, I have actually just done a post myself on the use of reclaim timber for homeware, there are some beautiful items you can buy that are re-purposed from old peices of timber.
I love candles in pretty old tea cups and saucers, you know those odd china cups you see in the hospice shops or salvation army stores.

Oh they are just darling! Don't the little yellow lids tie it all together:-) I 'd love to know what photo editing program you use too–I use Picnik and it is closing….boo hoo! Not sure what to use now that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The new header looks wonderful!
