Lace Fireplace Screen

By Lorraine

When we first moved into our home almost 26 years ago, I went to a local antique/craft show and found this pretty lace screen.

It sits in front of the wood burning stove inserted in the fireplace during the months that the stove is not in use.  Amazingly, no little finger has poked a hole through it or anything accidentally cause a tear in the lace.  It’s still just as pretty as the day I bought it.

I think this type of lace screen was used in Victorian homes as a window screen.

Notice the stephanotis in the silver container?  It was so root-bound that it required watering every day. On more than one occasion I found it drooping sadly.  Since it was flowering I was afraid to re-pot it.  I waited until just a few blooms remained and as careful as I could transferred it to a larger container.
It will need some time to adjust but I sure hope it will again produce those sweet smelling flowers!

Admittedly, I'm not always a fan of lace. But I love this fireplace screen. It's so pretty and goes so well even in a contemporary room.

What a pretty screen!! I love your entire room & this is just perfect with all your white trim & such. Beautiful!!

I also wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed seeing all the photos of your grandbabies wearing the family christening outfit. What an outstanding tradition to keep alive!
I have made a christening gown for my future GREAT grands as well as a home-from-the-hospital outfit & matching blanket. I hope God lets me live long enough to see it used. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your beautiful life & love of the Lord with us.

    fondly,
    Rett

p.s. that photo of the Peach Melba Trifle was AWESOME, too!!!

I think this is perfectly lovely! It goes so well with the rest of that room, too.

Also, I clicked that link you gave for your masculine coasters. They were wonderful and have my mind just churning.

What a gorgeous room! I like everything about it, especially the windows and fireplace. Your lovely screen just sets it all off, and your plant will do fine. Really, it's all just so pretty, what wouldn't do well?
