Summer on the Patio
Re-purposed Curtains for the Patio

Once while staying at a B&B (Lovelace Manor in Lancaster, PA) we admired the huge field of ferns they had growing. We were happy to accept a box full to take home to our own garden!
Care to sit a spell?

Adding Repurposed Curtains to the front porch
This is an updated post to show how adding curtains to the porch creates a bit of privacy so perfect for relaxing. I frequently have my coffee, breakfast and quiet time on the bench. It is usually still cool and I enjoy the birds, clouds and greenery. And, it is a peaceful way to start the day.
Here on the porch, I used a pair of tab curtains that once hung in a toddlers nursery then a guest room. Tie the curtains back or allow them to hang depending on the look and amount of privacy you want. I have only used sheer curtains so they do not completely block visibility, but is it enough for me. The real purpose of the curtains is to create a soft, breezy look that is lovely and adds curb appeal to our home.

Absolutely beautiful! I wish we lived in a part of the country where the mosquitoes didn't eat us alive if we're outside! I have a screened in gazebo and you've inspired me to turn it into something a bit more special! Thanks for your lovely post!

This is so beautiful! I also loved the tablecloth. This is exactly what we would like to do to our back patio. Right now it isn't even used. I've also seen curtains made from drop cloths and that seems to look nice also.
The curtains add such a nice, soft and romantic look! Just lovely! I have white lights in my screened gazebo, too, and I think pictures don't do the look they give at night justice.
what a wonderful setting and fab pics~
WOW!!! WOW!!! I love your porch! The drapes are very dramatic which I love!
This is my first time participating in Ms. Rhondi's Porch Party…I hope you will swing by my blog to visit my porch! Fresh ice cold lemonade will be waiting on you!

How pretty! The porch in itself is already beautiful but the curtains softened the look and made it even prettier….Christine
I tried to leave you a message earlier, but something hiccuped. I hope this one takes.
Your patio is gorgeous. I love the billowy curtains and the trellis for the arches. Simply perfect!
Your patio is very warm and relaxing, but also very romantic looking. Very pretty!
Hugs, Cindy
How lovely and inviting. The curtains add just the right touch to soften a hardscape. Your ferns are beautiful too.
What a beautiful porch. I love how the curtains soften it. If that were my home I think I would live out there! Thanks for joining my porch party today.
Hugs, Rhondi

Oh my word, I've been looking to do this for our gazebo in our backyard. I always thought that I needed to get "outdoor" curtains if there such a thing. You've inspired me!! Thanks!

Your patio is beautiful! So peaceful and relaxing and the addition of the curtains is just right. We are getting ready to put in a patio outside the double doors we had installed in our master bedroom. Your photos inspired me – I can't wait for us to get ours finished so I can add some pretty things.
~Adrienne~
What a beautiful patio. I love everything about it. Thanks for linking to the party.
Reading this post makes me want to pick up my cup of coffee and hurry on over. Sitting in a pretty, cozy, porch like yours is an inviting thought to me. You have a way of adding beauty and ambience to your decorating touches. Really enjoyed seeing these pictures.
I put curtains up on the corner of my porch as a sort of sun filter. I use a rod and hooks etc. My husband is a retired electrician. Why did we not think of using conduit? Sheer curtains are a gentle and a bit sexy addition to summer.
You've convinced me that I need to add a few curtains to my porch! Yours looks so inviting and lovely!
Blessings!!
I have been trying to decide if I wanted to do this on my porch, definitely going to now. It's beautiful
So pretty and intimate, wish I was there now. Thanks for sharing at Beyond The Picket Fence.
Your patio looks so beautiful and inviting!
What a gorgeous retreat! I'm in awe!! Great job! I'm new to your blog and very impressed!
Looks like a magazine photo shoot. Perfect for that daily porch sit.
Just looking at the gorgeous photos, I feel a sense of calm take over me. So if that space were mine, I'd probably set up camp there!
How beautiful and inviting…just relaxing!
Your patio is a dream! I love it! It was suggested to me 2 years ago to do something along the same lines…but =(..it never happened. Maybe next summer? We have re-done our flower bed and it turned out delightful. One of these days I'll get a picture posted. I need to get back outside….hubby is laying flagsone for a small breakfast patio. Our daughter thought it up and worked so hard on it….he is finishing up. The stones are way too heavy for me to lift, I wish I could help!
Love your patio!!! It is SOOO beautiful!
I would love to come sit for a while. You may be sorry you invited me though I just might not leave

Oh – it looks absolutely stunning. I LOVE IT! It is perfect. I have been thinking about doing that on my front porch. I have a ton of very lightweight sheets in a pale, pale yellow..and for some reason I am attracted to pale yellow this Summer. Maybe I need a little extra sunshine in my life. You have certainly inspired me here- xoDiana
That looks wonderful! I love the lattice work on your patio too. Everything looks so lush and green.
I have bags of those sheers too. I saved them, as they are mych nicer than the ones you buy now. Mine are mostly ecru, and 90 in, from the 70's!
You never know when you will need them, LOL!
Your patio looks lovely! I love how curtains look when used outdoors
Your patio is gorgeous!! It looks so inviting.
