Happy New Year Greetings and an Atmos Clock

By Lorraine

My father-in-law worked for the Campbell Soup Company for 42 years. He received this beautiful Swiss made LeCoultre clock in recognition of his first 25 years of service.

It is unique in that it is an atmospheric, almost perpetual clock that does not need to be wound and gets the energy it needs to run from small temperature changes and atmospheric pressure changes in the environment. It is manufactured by Jaeger-LeCoultre in Switzerland

From Wikipedia: Its power source is a hermetically sealed capsule containing a mixture of gas and liquid ethyl chloride, which expands into an expansion chamber as the temperature rises, compressing a spiral spring; with a fall in temperature the gas condenses and the spring slackens. This motion constantly winds the mainspring. A temperature variation of only one degree in the range between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, or a pressure variation of 3 mmHg, is sufficient for two days’ operation

A Time for Everything
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3

Sending Wishes for a very Happy New Year!

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:11-13

What a wonderful clock and it's so nice that it has been passed down! I chose a mantle clock as my 5 year anniversary gift from my company. I hope my kids will someday want it. Now my kids hate that it chimes all the time but I love that!

That's a great clock! On the A&E show "Pawn Stars" they had someone bring in that exact clock. I was in great envy! Beware though, the guy on there said you don't want to move it to dust or rearrange or anything. They're so sensitive, moving it just a little could be really bad news.

Happy new year to you friend! jan

Beautiful clock. Great conversation piece I bet. Love the scriptures too! "Seasons" has been my word from God for a couple of years now. Usually he gives me a word to ponder on each year, but this word has stuck with me for the past 2. Not sure what word God is going to reveal to me in 2010.
So glad I met you through blogging in 2009. You are truly a blessing. God Bless in 2010.
    Hugs from Texas.
