Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake

By Lorraine

Easy recipe cherry pineapple dump cake
When time is short and taste is in demand a “dump” cake might be just what you’re looking for.
Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake is not at all like a cake ~ more like a crisp.
No mixing or stirring.
Big on yum!

Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake Recipe

eHow recipe

1 Can (20 oz) crushed pineapple with juice, undrained
1 Can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
1 pkg. classic yellow cake mix
1 Cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
1/2 Cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, cut into thin slices

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 13×9-inch pan.

Dump the pineapple with juice into pan. Spread evenly.
Dump in the cherry pie filling, spread evenly.
Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over cherry layer.
Sprinkle pecans or walnut over cake mix. Then, dot with butter.

Bake for 50 minutes or until top is lightly browned.

Serve warm, if desired

Dump cake isn’t the most appetizing name for a dessert. The name describes the preparation technique use to make it. Ā Even that doesn’t sound appealing. It is hard to believe this lovely dessert comes from just dumping some ingredients into a pan and popping it into the oven.

Cherry dump cake is kind of like a fruit crisp. Or maybe like a cobbler with its crumbly topping. It is hard to describe but it is delicious. And popular. And, did I mention, easy šŸ™‚

I haven’t tried it but I’m willing to bet it is equally good with different fruit filling.Ā  You might try substituting the cherry pie filling with peach, strawberry or blueberry.

Serve as it, with whipped cream or with ice cream!

This is a wonderful recipe. Last summer we had some young married couples from church over for coffee and dessert and NONE of them had ever had this and thought it was the greatest thing. I love when that happens…especially when the dish is SOOOOOO simple šŸ™‚

    Blessings!
