Caroline Catherine

By Lorraine

Our family lost an incredible person this week. Our Mom, Caroline Catherine passed away. We all echo the words of my niece… “…all I keep thinking is that (as ridiculous as it sounds) I never imagined she’d pass. It’s almost like a superhero passed away.”

Beloved wife of the late Frank Walter. Loving mother of Carol, Frank and his wife Arlene, and Lorraine and her husband John. Grandmother of Christine, Thomas, Jonathan, Erin, Eva, Jill, Jamie, Andrew, Catherine, Toni, Alexander, Abbey and Suzanne. Great-Grandmother of Jared, Alexis, Julianna, Ryan, Keri, Maxwell, Noah, Brenna, Harrison, Silas, Shaela, Olivia, Caleb, Cambrie and Vivienne. Also survived by her sisters, Margaret and Rose. Predeceased by her brothers, Howard, William, Joseph, Charles, George, Raymond, Harry and sister Catherine.

 Mommy (Granny) Words…
(I asked family and friends for a word or two that they would use to describe her)
  • Spunky
  • Affectionate, legendary
  • Affectionate thoughtful
  • The best tooth-brusher on the planet
  • Feisty
  • Spirited
  • Affectionate – thoughtful.  Filled the world with tape dispensers!
  • Thoughtful…OCD (I mean that lovingly!!! Especially since I am too.
  • Creative story-teller
  • Giving, Spunky
  • Generous & entertaining
  • She could outfit an army with linens
  • Fun-loving and generous
  • Big-heart, attentive to details
  • Hard-worker and strong
  • Perfection in sewing, crocheting, knitting… oh, and cleaning
  • Didn’t like to cook but loved to eat
  • Loving and supportive
  • Like an M&M ~ hard outer shell with a smooth soft center
  • Mindfulness and Tenacity.   Her thoughtfulness and her resolve are the most vivid traits that I think of when I remember Granny
  •  Strong and spirited.
  • Making filled turnover Christmas cookies is what first comes to mind
  • A lot of person in a small body
  • A character
  • Ornery, Piece-of-work and “Jell-O” (she made and gave Jell-O often)

Some photos of Mommy and me.

One of my favorite photos

We were together for my birthday. She had a great time and looked terrific.

The last time I saw my mom

We brought home her Bible and the above card was inside with these precious words in her own handwriting.

~*~
The above paper was in the pouch on the front of her Bible.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
Psalm 116:15

God just answered my question. I was brought to your blog today through another blog I am a member of, I think it was a link. I lost my mother less than a month ago when she passed away from cancer at 86. I was wondering today about heaven as I am a Christian and then I suddenly was lead to your blog and then lead again to this post and there are the questions and wondering's I had about heaven on your mothers list.

Thank you God, and thank you for your blog and thanks to your mum too as I believe there is a reason for everything and today I was meant to read this. I have tears in my eyes, I miss my mum so much but I pray one day I will be with her and my dad in heaven.

Dear LDH…I just read about your Mom. Oh my goodness, Lorraine. What a terrible loss.

May all the beautiful memories you have of her sustain you during this time of sorrow.

We have but one mother and no one, NO ONE, can ever take her place.

    My heart aches for you.

She sure has left a great legacy in you.

She will be with you when you create, when you explore, when you laugh, and when you cry. She will live within your heart forevermore on this earth. And she will wait for you until you meet again.

    Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

"Weeping will endure for a night, but Joy cometh in the morning." I'm so sorry, Lorraine, for the pain you feel now with the passing of your dear mother, but how joyous to know that you will spend eternity with her in Heaven with Jesus!
I have been praying for you, thinking there was some great trouble with 'Irene' but I see I was praying for a differnt kind of comfort.
    Still praying.
