A Day with Brenna

By Lorraine

Last month, I got a text from my daughter, Jill..
I couldn’t say no to a special request like that!

So, I asked my daughter, Jamie, if I could take little Cambrie for company during my drive up north.
The day before our trip, I picked up a very excited little girl.
That evening, a less than excited little girl decided she really needed her mom so I drove her back home.
Early the next morning, she changed her mind and so I drove back to her house and we got on the road together.
Because she drank all of her apple juice too quickly and we had to stop at the Allentown rest stop.
When she saw the sign there, she realized she needed Auntie Anne’s cinnamon pretzels for the rest of the journey.
While I spent the next day with Brenna, Aunt Jill took Cammie to Build*A*Bear and then out for lunch.
Brenna-Bean and I boarded the school bus, with lots of other 3rd graders, that drove us to Syracuse and the MoST (Museum of Science and Technology)
I have to say, this part of central New York did not get the memo that it is officially SPRING evident by the cold, the snow and the ice that I had to scrape from the car and drive through.
While visiting, Ryan showed me that he too, like his cousin, Jared has learned the algorithms and can solve the Rubik’s Cube
Before our homeward bound journey, Aunt Jill took us out for breakfast.
(and then she kindly followed me to a gas station and helped me fill my car tank, since this Jersey Girl has only pumped her own gasoline a few times e v e r!)
~Cambrie (hugging Build*A*Bear) and I made the 300+ mile drive home with NO stops~
and guess who cried because she didn’t want to go home
🙂
Last night the phone rang and when I answered, this is what I saw…
Brenna and Shae! A face to face video phone call ~ so fun!

then a text
❤

Thank YOU, Brenna!  Mom-Mom loves you!

This grandma smiled the entire way through this post, including the crying little one who did not want to go home. What sweet pictures of the precious ones in your life. As for the fun admittance of you gas pumping dilemma, I understand that too. My mother finds herself in the same predicament, and we are so happy to help. Reading your post is most enjoyable, because you write with your heart.

What a fun adventure. I hope you missed that 17" inches of snow that western NY got all in one day in early March!

Sounds like you had a great time, so funny about the changing mind…shall I go or shall I stay?? Sometimes they just need to know that they can change their mind if they want to and it really won't matter 🙂

So cute, Lorraine. My, little Miss Cambrie has grown quite a bit! xo. P.S. I hate to pump my own gas! I mostly get my gas in NJ anyway.

How wonderful to be able to share a fun field trip with one of your New York grandchildren…and what delightful company you got to have on your drive there and back again!
Unfortunately the weather around here still doesn't believe Spring has sprung…we have snow in the forecast for tomorrow!! 🙁

That is the sweetest story!! How precious that your granddaughter chose you to be her chaperon. I know you enjoyed your time with both sweet girlies, as well as the rest of the family. Good times…good memories!

I'd say that Ryan and Jared must be pretty bright boys. Rubik's Cube makes my brain hurt.

Oh- YOu are such a good Mom-Mom. I just love how much you love your sweet grandchildren. Is there anything more precious than seeing those sweet faces light up when you tell then YES to something special?

Are you talking about Syracuse, NY? I grew up quite close to there. xo Diana

Hi Lorraine! What a lovely story. And you really hung in there too when she wanted to go home!

Aren't our grandchildren just the best? And a 300 mi. trip is a long one, your granddaughter is a real trooper too. I'm so happy that you all had such a great time. Maybe that will mean more fun outings in the future!

    Blessings,
    Ceil

What a wonderful Mom-Mom you are! Driving all that way to be together, and everything in-between. And your grandchildren are adorable!

You know, I hardly drive at all since hubby retired, I've only ever been a summer driver at best, and driven close to home. And….I have never had to pump gas ever. I don't know what I'd do if it came down to having to pump gas…just learn I guess….lol. Thanks for coming by my blog and commenting. That was so nice =)
