While the temps outside are still chilly and spring flowers seem a long way off, my houseplants don’t seem to mind
A light coating of snow contrasts these tropical blossoms. We are currently having more snow today!
A south-facing window is where I have my orchids.
For many years I took them out to the patio when the weather warmed up and they received early morning light. Outside they required very little care thanks to our hot and humid summers.
I would clean them up and bring them back in as fall approached, but in the past few years I left them right here in the dining room.
They bloom twice a year and the flowers last two-three months.
a few other plants around the house:
Arrowhead Vine
Goldfish Plant (Nematanthus)
Abbey’s Ficus Bonsai
Miniature roses waiting to be planted outside
African Violet
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.

I cannot believe how many beautiful, meaningful and interesting posts I have missed here. I read down through everyone this morning and was so blessed! I am so thankful that you blog and even more thankful that I get to visit. Your orchids are so impressive! I can't imagine how accomplished I would feel, if they were mine:), especially as I think of my living room plant that I am trying to keep alive.
The words to Twila Paris's song touched my heart today, and the butter lamb was such a special part of your Easter table.
Please keep blogging, and please know what joy you bring to everyone who visits.

Your plants are so pretty and clean. Even our indoor plants are dirty. I just can't keep up with all the dust. :/ Have a great day. Tammy

I like your orchids and the white ones are an incredibly pure white. I have 2 outdoor orchids that stay on the patio year round. Your indoor orchids are much more varied.

You take the most amazing pictures. I have one orchid that I've had for a few years. It sits in my dining room window. The blooms are so pretty and they last for so long.

Beautiful. I've never tried growing orchids, afraid the outcome wouldn't be pretty at all!! 😉 Hubby bought me an African violet for Valentine's Day…and I asked him why? considering I've killed every one I've owned. This time, I didn't even repot it…yet. It's in front of a window in the LR near the computer and it's growing like a weed. Thank you, Lord!!! HOPE you have a great day…it's snowing here…very unusual for us this time of year!

Thank you for sharing your orchids…I love them. I have quite a few too and enjoy how they bloom for so long at a time. Just recently I visited an orchid farm which had been going since 1867!

Good morning! Such gorgeous orchids! I love them so. I can't wait to show mom yours later this morning as they are her favorites…she used to grow just BEAUTIFUL ones. Too bad I didn't inherit her green thumb! Enjoy your day!

I was given an orchid plant on Valentine's Day by one of my students. I have it sitting on my desk and there is a window close by. I've never grown orchids before but I'm thrilled that it seems to be doing nicely and I get to see it from where I sit and write.
Lorraine, your photos are truly amazing. The flowers look so beautiful.
Blessings and love,
Debbie

Your orchids are so pretty!! Have never seen a goldfish plant, but yours is lovely!! I always look forward to the daffodils here. It feels like a reminder from God, that winter will not last forever and spring will surely follow!

All of the flowers are beautiful, but I think I also like the orchids the best. Here in the South the weather is still cold and rainy too. 'Seems many people across the US are looking forward to the warmer Spring weather 🙂

As time goes on and visits here are frequent, I have come to the conclusion that you are one very gifted lady! Whether it is baking, cooking, decorating, fulfilling the roles of your place in the family, it seems like you are gifted in all areas. I have never tackled raising orchids, but if I do, I will know where to go for advice. Beautiful!

I just received my first orchid when Mom died and I'm enjoying it so much. Someone told me to give it three ice cubes a week so I am. Yours are all so beautiful. You have a green thumb!

Beautiful Bible verse, and beautiful plants 'round and about your home, Lorraine!.. I had one of my two most precious plants knocked over just recently, by one of the family cats.. It's a begonia, given to me from my kids. It has been blooming constantly and beautifully all winter long, cheering me up every time I laid eyes on it. Now, I'm just praying it survives the very messy incident it has now suffered. I'm just crossing my fingers now, and hoping for the best!… Have a good day! ~tina

You do have a green thumb when it comes to orchids. I just lost one of my plants…sniff…. I have had my mind on other things and have forgotten to move them from the cold window. Your home sure looks bright and spring like… Spring has sprung in your home that is for sure. Your photography is excelent as always and a delight to my eyes. I have not picked up my camera since February and doubt I will get a chance till some time in June to get it out. So I will have to rely on my favorite blogs to keep my eyes happy.
GOD bless and keep you all safe. Have a blessed Easter in Jesus name.

Your orchids are beautiful. One of my plants has bloomed again for the first time, I was so excited when I saw the little buds! This was just a "chance re-bloom" though because I can assure you I had no idea what kind of care they needed.
Although we don't have snow, it has been a pretty long winter here as well.
