As our grandchildren begin a new school year, my prayer above all others is that they all learn more of the Lord and grow closer to him. Proverbs Chapter 2 and verses 1-11 tells of the blessing and benefits of wisdom and knowledge. Proverbs for back to school
Proverbs 2:1-11 is a great Scripture passage for kids as they head back to school concerning wisdom and knowledge. You can read through it below.
Proverbs 2:1-11
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds victory in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
Here is how to make
Rolo Candy Pencil Treats
Supplies
- Rolo Chewy Caramel candy
- Hershey Kisses
- Yellow and Pink Cardstock
- small amount of foil
- Glue Dots
- Ribbon or String
- Craft Scissors w/ Pinking Edge (optional)
Directions
Start by pulling out the little white strip of paper from the Hershey Kiss.
Using a Glue Dot, attach the Kiss to one of the ends of the Rolo pack.
Cut a 1″ thick pink strip and secure it to the top of the Rolo to resemble an eraser. Cut a small circle and attached it to the top to finish it off.
Next cut a piece of yellow cardstock to wrap around the Rolo’s. If you have pinking shears, you can cut one edge to make the pencil look like it is sharpened but you can leave the edge straight too. Fold the yellow cardstock making quarter of an inch creases to create the pencil shape. Attach this piece of paper to the Rolo’s.
To create the metal portion of the pencil, cut a thin piece of foil to cover the part where the yellow and pink overlap
Attach a tag with a note and child’s or teacher’s name to the finished candy pencil using a ribbon, string or piece or embroidery floss. That’s it, you are done! Sweet little treats for those heading back to a bright, new school year.
