Growing up, my very best friend lived right next-door. My family moved into our new house when my mom came home from the hospital after giving birth to me, so we were friends from infancy. She is less than a year younger than me and was a grade behind in school, but we were always together. Her dear mom enjoyed crocheting and made many beautiful items. One day she told me to pick out an afghan from one of her pattern books and she would make it for me. I am guessing I was about 10 years old.
I have always loved this pink afghan with the pretty roses on white diamonds. I even took it to the hospital when my youngest daughter was born 17 years ago.
