Do you make a plan and then arrange when decorating? Or are you more like me and get a sudden burst of inspiration and change things around.
This mirror had been happily hanging on the upstairs hallway wall and without warning, I wondered how it would look above the fireplace mantle.
I had to enlist the help of my grandson to carry the heavy mirror down the steps and hoist it up onto the mantle so I could have a look. It fit perfectly and (for now) its going to stay.
Sometimes the Christmas tree is in the living room and other years it is here in the family room.
I have been using the vintage glass ornaments from my childhood since I received them when my mom passed away. It surprises me how nostalgic I am as I secure each one onto the branches. I can visualize my dads hands carefully decorating long ago trees.
My white nativity has always been on the foyer table as a welcome and focus when entering the house. Like the mirror, the figures now grace the mantle.
And who doesn’t enjoy sitting by the tree with just its lights illuminating the room
As long as there are little ones, we will set up the village and trains under the tree. Even the not-so-little ones spend a moment on their bellies talking about their favorite house and watching the train circle around and sound its whistle.
The dining room table centerpiece changes each year but the white table-top tree in the corner fits just right.
This large wreath spent many years on the windows by the kitchen table. Now a simple strand of white lights are draped there and the wreath hangs above the foyer table.
Thanks for visiting. It is always my joy when you stop by!

Once things land in a spot in my house they are unlikely to move for a very long time if ever. Your house looks beautiful and very festive

Your decorations are beautiful, Lorraine!! I love all of your changes. I work the same way. When an idea hits (at Christmas…or any time), I just go for it. Sometimes I move it all back, and sometimes a sudden burst of an idea is just the thing! How do you know until you try?
Your home is beautifully ready to welcome the best "decorations"…the sweet faces that you love!

Well I will tell you that I am definitely a "get a sudden idea and change it up" sort, lol. Done that more then you can imagine over the years, lol. The mirror looks beautiful over the mantle, and I love your nativity set there too. I have a few of the old vintage type ornaments as I love them so, but none of them belonged to my mom. What a treasure that must be for you! Sure enjoyed getting a peek at your decorations! Enjoy the rest of your week!

I love the mirror over the fireplace. It really looks lovely, as do all your Christmas decorations. There's something about the old ornaments, isn't there? Just love having that history at Christmas.

Lorraine, your decorations are just so beautiful and all of your "change-ups" look absolutely perfect. Although my tree has pretty much stayed the same over the years, I do change the placement from time to time and also like to change up my mantle some. It certainly looks like you are ready for the season! Have a blessed week 🙂

Everything is lovely starting right at the front door. So cozy and inviting. Everything I do is on a whim and usually if I start changing anything, it turns into an all day affair. 🙂 Happy holidays!
