What kind of gift do you give someone who has everything they need? A bottle of wine or a gift card is nice but what if you want something that is special. Birthday memories note cards are the perfect way to celebrate a life!

My brother-in-law has a benchmark birthday coming up and we wanted to give him a thoughtful gift to show our love. So, we sat down with a pen and notebook and allowed our minds to go back through the years and reminisce.
Since this is his 70th birthday, it took a couple of days to come up with that many memories. One for each one of his birthdays.
The experience of our remembering things we had long forgotten was itself a fun activity. The years fly by, oft times so busy that we take a few pics and zoom back into life allowing little time to cherish those moments.
Make your own Birthday Memories Note Cards
If you want to give a gift of memories to someone you love, you can use my template. Just print it out and handwrite your memories. I can’t think of a sweeter or more thoughtful gift to receive from someone. It’s sure to stir the heart and bring a smile to the recipient!
Coming up with a list of Birthday Memories for Note Cards
If you don’t need 70 memories or you can easily come up with a ton of memories, good for you! If like us, your memory mind stalls a little short collecting all of those memories, here are a few things that might help.
- Try to make some of the memories, ones that you were both involved in.
- Don’t try to gather those memories all at one sitting.
- We found it helpful to go through old photo albums to find snapshots of days gone by stirring lots of memories (and laughter).
- Not all of your cards have to be memories. Add messages, sentimental or funny thoughts, quotes and wishes.
Packaging Birthday Memories Note Cards
You might be able to find a container that you can refurbish from something you already have. I have a weird compulsion of collecting metal tins and glass jars. I found a little square tin that was just big enough to fit the memory note cards.

You could use a small cardboard box or a jar big enough so the cards can be added and removed without bending. A small gift bag is another possibility. I kind of like the metal box, though, feeling it gives the gift a nice presentation. There are also packaging suggestions in the Amazon links above.

You can print the cards on a good quality computer paper or card stock if you want sturdier notes. Then pour yourself and a cup of hot chocolate or coffee and start reminiscing, remembering and recalling as many precious memories about this person that comes to mind.
The memory cards we used for my brother-in-law have a masculine feel. I also created a softer, floral version you might like better for a sister, daughter or girlfriend.
Both versions are included in the printable package.

What a great idea, Lorraine. I love it. When I turned 60 my son and his wife wrote down 60 memories of things that had touched their lives and put them in a beautiful toile covered box. Every once in a while I re-read them.
You have given people a wonderful start! xo Diana
