Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Colossians 3:12
This quote has always caught my attention. Everyone we rub shoulder with, stand next to in line and meet as we go on our way, are people walking and carrying burdens.
This quote (or quotes very similar) are attributed to several people. Here is one likely author.
Rev. John Watson (3 November 1850 – 6 May 1907), known by his pen name Ian Maclaren, was a Scottish author and theologian. It is thought that Maclaren was the original source of the quotation “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle,” now widely misattributed to Plato or Philo of Alexandria. The oldest known instance of this quotation is in the 1897 Christmas edition of The British Weekly, penned by Maclaren: “Be pitiful, for every man is fighting a hard battle.” source

So very true and I have never felt it more than since we lost our granddaughter Eden. Our world fell apart while everyone else went on with their lives. It didn't seem right, but God is good and is helping us get through the pain.

I love this ~ so beautiful! Sometimes it's difficult to show kindness when others are rude, however, that's what we're supposed to do! 🙂
Hope you're doing well and feeling stronger each day.

Thank you for this post, it really spoke to me. Kindness is exactly what is needed in this world and we all fall short now and again.

I like that quote and the picture is beautiful. Some people fight those hidden battles better than others and some make it hard to be kind but I sure do try 🙂

This is so true…we never know what the folks we come in contact with during our day to day life are carrying around with them. Lord help me to always think about that before making comments or judgments. Thank you for this beautiful reminder.

What a sad world we live in. Such a beautiful quote. Thank you for your encouraging words. Sometimes when I hear discouraging things, I think about the scripture, "Lift up your head for your redemption draw with nigh." Have a joyful week.
