I have closed my Etsy shop and put my crochet hooks aside for awhile. I have a pinky finger that is following the path my parents fingers have taken. It seems twisted and crocked fingers with bumpy knuckles just might run in the family and after a year of intense crocheting, I have seen a significant change in shape and discomfort. But I can still knit and have a couple of projects in the works.
The pattern in the scarf above is one of my favorites. It is worked in an easy 2×3 Rib Stitch making it so warm and snugly. There are many variations of the Rib Stitch and in a few days I’ll share a couple of patterns with you.
My mom is of German descent and she learned Continental Knitting (also called German or European Knitting). We do not throw the yarn as many people do.
Here is a terrific video demonstrating this method of knitting. If you are a crocheter, you will take easily to knitting this way. It is the way I knit and cast on.

I think I am just destined to be a crocheter. I just can't get the knitting. 🙁 I watched this video over and over agin but it just isn't turning out right. I did figure out how to knit the regular way in the mean time but it isn't turing out very well and seems much slower than crochet. I really want to do it so I am going to keep trying. It seems like knitting projects are more diverse than crochet.
Do you think there is a different way to crochet as well for those with arthritis? I inurjured my shoulder really bad about a month ago because I didn't reazlie that I was holding a lot of tensions there when I was crocheting. Trying to be more careful about that now. 🙂

I never could get the hang of knitting although I did teach myself how to crochet a couple years ago.
