February. It is the month of love. The month we celebrate all things “love”. Not that we don’t show love all year through but February contains Valentine’s Day with its love focus.
We send Valentines, go to fancy restaurants for a fancy dinner, buy flowers and jewelry and give candy in heart-shaped boxes. All gestures to tell someone about our love and concern for them.
But love isn’t always best expressed with these sweet and thoughtful intentions. Sometimes people feel most loved when an act touches them in a deep, personal way. That brings me to this question…
What is the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Was it a gift, an action, an encouraging word at just the right time?
What was your response and how did it help you?
Was it something from a family member, friend? Or by a total stranger?
Leave a comment and share your story. From those I have spoke with, these heartwarming stories probably came in a most unexpected way and totally surprised you.
To encourage us to pay-it-forward, I compiled a list of quotes and verses on the subject of kindness.
Quotes that speak of KINDNESS
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Aesop
Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile. Mother Teresa

No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves. Amelia Earhart

I would say it is when we didn’t have much money because hubbys workplace had closed. No warning at all and he was off work for a few months. During that time one day we went to town and scrounged enough money together to grab a bite at McDonalds. I think the total came to around $5. We pulled up to the window to pay and the employee told us the person ahead of us had paid for our food! We were amazed at the kindness of a total stranger. We have since passed it on a few times and it is an amazing feeling!!! God is good!!

Our neighbor, who has a house full of young children, recently knew I was not feeling well and she prepared dinner and brought it to our door. Her thoughtfulness was so appreciated because I know how busy she is with family.
We also fondly remember a few years back when you surprised us with your delicious biscotti. Such a nice surprise and so delicious. We will never forget your kindness.

There have been lots of kind things people have done for me but the one that has stuck with me the longest came from a stranger. It was back in the day when there were still a few full service has stations around. I was feeling especially down when I pulled in to fill my tank. The attendant came out and with a big smile said good morning sunshine and then handed me a handful of candy. It wasn’t much but it was enough to make me smile and feel just a little beyter

awww… Anne, these are the very things that mean the most to those of us on the receiving end of kindness. It was spontaneous and it really brightened your day, so much that you still remember it {heart}.
