A little like a pot pie, this savory pie begins with ground pork.
Here’s how to make Pork and apple pie
Add the chopped onion and ground pork to a 10-inch skillet.
Cook the ground pork, onion and celery until the meat is no longer pink.
Drain off fat. Stir in the breadcrumbs, chicken broth, salt, sage and pepper.
Line a 9-inch pie plate with one of the pie crusts, trim.
Spoon the meat mixture into the pie plate. (I tossed in some leftover carrots from a previous meal)
In medium bowl, combine the apples, sugar and allspice. Spoon over the meat mixture.
Place the remaining pie crust over the apple mixture; fold under and crimp.
Cut slits in top crust. Brush with a little milk. Sometimes I sprinkle to top with a little onion powder but this its totally optional.
Bake 35-40 minutes or until golden.
Let baked pie stand 10 minutes before serving.

What a lovely little bit of serendipity. I got up extra early this morning to find a recipe for something to bring to a potluck luncheon tomorrow – needing to shop and cook this evening after work. This will be perfect, as I will be able to make it this evening and bake it just before going to the luncheon. Thank you!
