A Note from Me (Ten Years Later)

I originally wrote this post a decade ago, as we celebrated our 40th anniversary, after hiring a photographer to capture a few sweet moments. I paired those images with lyrics from Something That We Do” by Clint Black, which said what my own words couldn’t quite express at the time.

This is just a glimpse into a moment that still makes me smile. We still do. And we’re still thankful.

We Still Do… Again and Again

 
Celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary today

I remember well the day we wed
I can see that picture in my head
I still believe the words we said
Forever will ring true 
 
 
Love is certain, love is kind
Love is yours and love is mine
 
 
But it isn’t something that we find
It’s something that we do

It’s flying high and laying low
 
Let your strongest feelings show

An endless and a welcome task
 
 
 Love isn’t something that we have

We help to make each other all that we can be

We started with a simple vow

Above all, giving thanks to God, who brought us to faith in Christ, is forever faithful to us, forgives us when we sin, loves us when we aren’t so lovable, encourages us when it’s hard, remembers us when we forget him, leads when we’re lost and guides us through the sunshine and storms.

    I am SO far behind but I'm trying to catch up. I missed the chance to wish you a happy anniversary – but the wishes are the same. Congratulations on forty years together. We are about to celebrate forty-four so I know the joy you *still* have. I'll be catching up to read more about your wonderful trip and everything else you've shared since I've been busy with life.
