New Jersey Blueberries: Summer’s Sweetest

Whether you pick your own at a local farm or find them at roadside stands, it’s worth savoring them while they’re fresh and in season.

Tips for Using Fresh Blueberries

  • Store properly: Keep blueberries in the refrigerator and wash just before using.

  • Prevent sinking in baked goods: Toss blueberries in a little flour before folding into batter.

  • Freeze extras: Spread on a tray and freeze before transferring to bags for smoothies or baking year-round.

Blueberries are one of summer’s sweetest pleasures, and these simple, from-scratch recipes make it easy to enjoy them at their best. Bake a cake, mix up a batch of muffins, or serve a warm crisp after dinner, and enjoy the flavor they bring flavor to your table.

Love, love, love Blueberries. I used to not care for them as much, but that is because of all of the FAKE blueberries in mixes and then one day, I thought…wait a minute do this from scratch and try the real deal. Oh so yummy and oh so good for you too. Sorry that it has been so long since I stopped by, so many health issues and beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Have a blessed day.

Yum! We used to get blueberries from northern Indiana that made great cobble. Your recipes sound wonderful.
