Fifty years! How did we get here so quickly?
John and I just marked 50 years of marriage. Our golden wedding anniversary. Writing those words feels incredible. It is a milestone for sure as life takes us on so many unexpected paths.
Our celebration was filled with hugs, laughter, and the beautiful faces of family grown for over five decades. The day was joyful and sweet, with memories that reminded us how blessed we’ve been.
Staying Together After 50 Years of Marriage
When you’ve spent a lifetime side by side, love changes. It becomes stronger, deeper, and more familiar. It grows through shared history, quiet moments, and countless acts of grace.
We’ve learned that lasting love isn’t about grand gestures. It’s the small things that weave the years together. Being there for each other during the hard parts, the everyday-ness as well as the fun and joyful times.
It is a reassuring hand when life is full of uncertainty and confusion. A kind word instead of harsh criticism. Perseverance instead quitting. Forgiveness and forgetting. A commitment to forever. Working as a team. Complementing each other’s strengths and compensating for each other’s weaknesses. It’s not always easy. There are moments it feels impossible. It is a willingness to make changes and allow God to gently and persistently teach us how to really love.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:7

Our four most fun, caring and adorable daughters that love us so well.
A Day Filled with Love
Our four daughters, without our knowledge, created a most lovely celebration. Grandchildren, family and dear friends gathered to celebrate with us, surrounding us with warmth and laughter. The decorations, music, and thoughtful touches reflected their heart of love. We feel immense gratitude. Not only for the years we’ve shared, but for the generations of love that have followed.
Reflecting on a Lifetime Together
Fifty years hold so many seasons. Times of joy, challenge, growth, and grace. Reaching this point doesn’t mean every day was perfect, but rather that love endured through them all.
For us, it’s been about holding fast to one another and to our faith through every chapter. We’ve grown together, changed together, and somehow, it’s made our love stronger.
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:2-3

Our daughters and all but six of our grandchildren that we able to travel to celebrate with us.
With Grateful Hearts after 50 years of marriage
As we look back on these fifty years, our hearts are full. Not with a sense of arrival, but with awe for all that love has carried us through.
As we look forward we are reminded that love is worth celebrating, cherishing, and tending each day. We are both fully convinced that God has guided as through the years. He never gave up even in the messy parts. He continues to lead us with His promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. We journey forward in peace and hope.
I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

PS: I enjoy your newsletter very much.Thank you!
I enjoyed reading about your journey of love and perseverance. Congratulations! We celebrated ours last year. When I saw your wedding picture it brought a smile of glee. I wore the identical dress and veil! So many similarities of God’s sustaining grace and love. We even collected the vintage comic strip too. Sweet sweet memories! May God continue to bless you as you love Him and each other more each day. Thank you for sharing! It was a pleasure to read and relate.
