If you remember my excitement about the figs harvested from my backyard fig tree, I am just as excited about the pasta dish of linguine with bacon and basil topped with sweet figs. It is an amazing combination of flavors and lovely if you are looking for a special dish to make for guests.

1 pound package linguine or pasta of choice
1/2 pound bacon (I love the thick-sliced peppered bacon)
1 small onion, small-chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
12 fresh figs, quartered
1/3 cup torn basil leaves
Cook pasta in boiling salted water according to package directions; drain, reserving 1 cup hot pasta water.
Cook bacon in skillet until crisp. Remove bacon to a plate and add onions to skillet. Cook over medium heat until soft; add garlic and cook 1 minute longer.
Pour cream into skillet; add hot cooked pasta and cheese. Cook, stirring constantly, 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Stir in 3/4 to 1 cup reserved pasta water until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle with basil and top with figs. Serve immediately.
